Initial Enrollment Period (IEP):
Most people are first eligible to enroll in Medicare during their Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which starts three months before the month you turn 65, includes the month you turn 65, and ends three months after the month you turn 65.
If you're eligible due to a disability, you can enroll in Medicare during a similar IEP based on your disability date.
Enrollment Options:
Automatic Enrollment: If you're already receiving Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) benefits when you turn 65, you'll be automatically enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B starting the first day of the month you turn 65.
You should get your Medicare card from Social Security 2 to 3 months before your 65th birthday.

If you're not automatically enrolled, you can sign up for Medicare:
Online through the Social Security Administration (SSA) website (ssa.gov).
By calling the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
Visiting your local Social Security office.
