the Medicare advantage plans have been increasing benefits like Dental, Vision and Hearing along with Gym Memberships and over the counter cards.
For 2026 I am sure you have noticed that benefits are now going down and most plans now have a monthly charge.

In Central and Northern Maine Northern light hospitals no longer accept one of the six medicare companies in Maine. Another one of the medicare companies is no longer offered in most counties in Maine. One Company in Maine is only good in Maine and New hampshire. (exept for emergencies) So if you need a heart surgeon in Boston you may be paying for that out of pocket or being restricted to a surgeon in Maine.

That leaves 3 plans. One of those plans is now $55 per month in most of the counties we live in. So it usually boils down to one of the two remaining plans to pick from.

I don't see much getting better for 2027. Although I have heard that we are getting another medicare advangage company coming into maine.
